YOGA NIDRA
with
Janet

Imagine an hour of guided deep relaxation. Yoga Nidra is a technique designed to restore you physically, mentally, emotionally, and energetically. It is set apart from other forms of meditation and relaxation by the repetition of an intention, which is thus set in the conscious and subconscious mind. The result: resolve is strengthened and positive outcomes are more assured. Recharge your batteries and set your intentions at the cellular level! Wear loosefitting, warm clothing, and bring your favorite soft pillow. A mild yoga practice precedes the meditation. No yoga experience necessary. Bring a friend! 2 CEUs

Saturday, December 3: 1:00-3:00 p.m., $30

THE RHYTHM WITHIN — VINYASA YOGA & LIVE MUSIC
with Dianne

featuring world percussionist Tom Teasley

At our essence there is a beautiful, divine sound: a rhythm, a vibration that is pure. Tap into that rhythm, unwind it, contribute to it and flow with joy in this special two hour Vinyasa practice accompanied by award winning world percussionist Tom Teasley of Source Theater’s The Ramayana. This will be an all levels flow suggested for Vinyasa students, present and past, as well as those who enjoy moving repetitively and vigorously through the Sun Salutations. No significant injuries or physical limitations please. Open to Vinyasa students of all styles and those who have completed 2 sessions of Yoga 2 or above. 2 CEUs.

Tom Teasley, described in the Washington Post as "a percussionist in the widest and most exuberant sense of the word", maintains a unique career as a solo percussionist, composer and collaborator. A 2010 Helen Hayes Theater Award recipient for outstanding sound design, Tom tours frequently throughout the world performing and presenting clinics for the instrument companies he endorses including Yamaha, Vic Firth, Sabian, Remo, Latin Percussion and others. A three-time recipient of a Fulbright-Hayes grant for performances in the Middle East, Tom collaborated with indigenous musicians and gave historic performances in Saudi Arabia, the West Bank and Jerusalem. He has been an artist-in-residence at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and has collaborated with the National Symphony as both a soloist and composer. As an international collaborator he has performed by invitation in Europe and South America. Tom earned the 2006 Artist-of-the-year award from Young Audiences of Virginia for his creative and educational presentations. His seven CDs have been greeted with international airplay and acclaim. He has been the subject of feature articles in both "Modern Drummer" and "Drum!" magazines.

SILENT PRACTICE

Appropriate for students who have completed at least two sessions of Yoga 2.
